  • Review and approve vendor drawings for major equipment.
  • Conduct detailed design and quality assurance reviews to ensure project alignment with requirements and best practices.
  • Perform site visits to ensure that construction matches engineering design documents, including preparatory meetings and QA/QC.
  • Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated for projects is consistent with best practices.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, project managers, and operational personnel to successfully deliver design projects.
  • Maintain a master file of templates, processes, and design records for future reference.
  • Attend mandatory training on new products, installation methods, and safety.
  • Maintain industry contacts and stay current with technical expertise.
  • Mentor junior engineers and industry associates.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Experience in the design, specification, and development of utility-level transmission and collection systems.
  • Advanced understanding of technical design principles, engineering practices, and industry standards.
  • Proven ability to research engineering and design issues, evaluate alternatives, and provide sound recommendations.
  • Proficiency in applying engineering principles to assess electrical and communication drawings against contractual and construction standards.
  • Strong understanding of project management and electrical transmission design.
  • Expertise in MS Office, AutoCAD 2D, Blue Beam, and other web-based software applications.
  • Familiarity with software tools like RISA 3D, L-Pile, SAG10, PLS-CADD, PLS Pole, etc.
  • Ability to work proactively, independently, and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Effective communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of ASCE Substation Structure Design Guidelines and NESC code requirements.
  • Experience with utility-scale transmission design and analysis, including system modeling and foundation/steel design for voltages ranging from 34.5kV to 345kV (preferred).

Education and Experience:

  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE), Electrical Engineering (BSEE), or related field. Strong preference for degrees from ABET-accredited programs.
  • Minimum 4 to 6 years of relevant work experience (can include a combination of trade and professional experience).
