Now Hiring Skilled CNC & Machine Operators – Brighton & Chelsea, MI

Express Employment Professionals is partnering with precision machining leaders across Livingston County (Brighton)and Washtenaw County (Dexter)to hire multiple CNC and Manual Machine Operators for 2nd shift opportunities. These full-time positions offer excellent pay, training, and benefits with established Michigan manufacturers serving the automotive, defense, and heavy equipment industries .

Brighton, MI Opportunities: CNC Turning Operator – 2nd Shift

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 3:15 PM – 1:45 AM

Pay Range: Up to $25/hour

Responsibilities:

• Operate CNC turning equipment for low- to mid-volume precision machining.
• Perform setups, tool offsets, part inspections, and quality checks.
• Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and measurement specs .
• Use micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify tolerances.
• Maintain production documentation and equipment cleanliness.

Ideal Candidate:

• 1–5+ years CNC machining experience, able to work independently in a job shop setting, comfortable holding tight tolerances in a multi-machine environment.

2️ Machine Operator II / Setup – Lathe & Mill 2nd shift (4x10 Schedule)

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 4:30 PM – 3:00 AM

Pay Range:$20–$25/hour + $1.50 shift premium

About the Company:

A long-standing manufacturer established in 1965, this CNC shop supplies precision metal components to automotive, railroad, heavy equipment, and defense sectors.

Position Summary:

The Machine Operator II supports production by performing advanced machining operations on lathes, mills, and grinders . This role includes setting up machines, changing tooling, and assisting in training junior operators.

Key Functions:

• Perform machining operations including milling, turning, drilling, and deburring .
• Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T , and inspection documentation.
• Execute machine setups, offsets, and cutter compensation adjustments.
• Detect and correct defective materials or questionable conditions.
• Support continuous improvement and cross-training initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Proficient in CNC Lathes, Mills, or Grinders .
• Knowledge of tool selection, offsets, bore gauges, and work holding setups .
• Capable of training and mentoring newer operators.

Dexter, MI Opportunity CNC Swiss Lathe Operator (Tsugami) – Night Shift

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 4:30 PM – 2:30 AM (Afternoons)

Pay Range: Up to $25/hour

About the Role:

This position involves running Tsugami Swiss-style CNC machines , producing precision parts for high-volume manufacturing. Ideal for candidates who are mechanically inclined, quality-focused , and thrive in a fast-paced production setting.

Responsibilities:

• Operate and monitor Swiss-style CNC lathes (Tsugami).
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues and tool wear.
• Change tools, drills, and inserts as needed.
• Perform in-process quality inspections using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Maintain machine cleanliness, oil levels, and safety procedures.

Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year CNC machining experience required.
• Blueprint reading and micrometer/caliper proficiency required.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Reliable attendance and strong communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
